Hurricane Irene!!!

Open ocean seas up to 35 feet WTF?!
She’s a CAT 1 right now and located about 55 miles WNW of San Juan, Puerto Rico.  Last night when I checked Irene out, she was still a TS, and looked like she was going to remain that way for a couple days… but wow did she pull a fast one on me/us.  She became much more organized overnight.  Sustained winds right now are at around 80mph and she’s pegged to continue building over the next several days reaching Major Hurricane status early Thursday over the Bahamas.  Then she looks like she’s going to stay off the Florida and Georgia Coast, but B-line it for the southern coast of South Carolina by Saturday morning.  This is not going to be pretty for the Southeast Coast, although the resulting swell could have a window of a few hours before it gets nasty.  Stay Tuned.

Hurricane Swell?

I'm curious to know if anyone else got any of that Hurricane swell that filled in over the weekend.  Especially you folks up the Central Coast and near San Francisco/Santa Cruz.  Chime in and let me know what you saw.

As for me I got two solid days of surf on Friday and Saturday.  Size wasn't anything crazy, but waist to chest high+ surf in the summer is nothing to complain about.  Then I watched the US Open Finals on Sunday and was blown away by how fun it is to watch Kelly Slater surf.  Seriously for a long time I was anti liking him because I hated the whole bandwagon association... but seriously?! did you see those airs?! He's still at the top of his game and very impressive and fun to watch.

Viva La HURRICANE SWELL!

Well its Fiesta in Santa Barbara... and all I can think about is getting away from all the people and chaos to get myself some of this Hurricane swell.  Wish me luck...

There's lots of swell out there for everyone else too... read the reports and know whats coming your way.

Oh hello Super Typhoon Muifa

Check out this monster of a storm south of Japan right now (click for full size)... Best part is it could actually spit up some swell for us early next week.
