Sorry East Coast, you're not included in this.... but California and Central America, prepare yourself for series of new groundswells (obviously not from the same place)... the first week of the New Year is going to mean back to back NW groundswells for the state of California FINALLY! That pesky omega blocking pattern that has been causing a horrible winter so far has broken down and hopefully wont be back for awhile. The Southern Ocean is starting to wake up a little bit too, with back to back long-period groundswells marching towards the Central American Pacific Coast. These moderate sized swells will be a great break from the monotony of small mushy waves, hopefully those offshore winds will prevail through the week though. If you have any questions feel free to email me. austin@globalsurfreports.com

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Well its that time of year again, so I hope all of you are having a wonderful holiday season and logging plenty of water time. Let me know if you have any trips coming up, I'd love to help you plan your board selection or give you advice on what the swells are doing. Here are a couple photos from my Rincon Christmas last year... enjoy!

Dirty Brown Water...
So its disgusting out there, its been raining none stop since Friday. I found out that not taking care of swimmers ear can give you a nasty ear infection... ruptured ear drums are no fun. I guess there isn't a better time to have one than when its raining, because I'm not getting in the water for awhile. How's everyone else doing? braving the muck?

http://cmnd-z.com/
What's up everyone, Just wanted to let you know that our biggest sponsor CMND-Z Clothing has just been updated with new product just in time for Christmas. So if you're still thinking about last minute gifts for your loved ones, check out what the beautiful Ms. Mickelson has come up with and help support Global Surf Reports. She definitely knows how to add some style under the tree...
eww yuck
I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm really not looking forward to a week of rain and dirty water.... A couple years ago I made the mistake of paddling out during a pretty heavy rain, and paid for it for about a month. I was sicker than a dog for the longest stretch I've ever been sick for. It takes a really good swell for me to paddle out in those kinds of conditions now-a-days. Does anyone have any rainy day tricks you care to share with the class?

everywhere
All I can really say today is that there are great conditions almost everywhere. The East Coast has some epic surf conditions in the New Jersey area, Central America is seeing an awesome swell right now for December, and California has some clean conditions with moderate size. Get out there!

Back in the Saddle
Seriously up until Wednesday night I hadn't been in the water for over a month. It was miserable. Most Southern California surfers probably know what I'm talking about. I would get so frustrated when I'd see days like today where conditions through Central and Northern California looked so fun and so clean, or the entire Central American coastline was just laughing at me because they were getting warm tropical waves in the chest to head high range with offshore winds.
Well, I'm happy to say, I have taken the reigns and am back in the saddle. Three days of awesome surf, a couple big days, a couple beautiful sunrises, and an epic sunset. If you're reading this and getting jealous... I'm either going to call you lazy, or feel bad for you. The surf is awesome today along the West Coast, Everyone down in CenAm's getting pumped for Sunday's swell, and the East Coast could see some surf over the weekend. There's plenty to go around, so go get some!

Another Note.
If you feel like taking a last minute trip before Christmas to score some tropical waves.... you should really head down to Nosara, Costa Rica. That swell that is supposed to hit early next week is going to be a fun one! Check out my report at www.Surfingnosara.com!
FINALLY!
Geeze, I seriously haven't been in the water in a month... that's how bad its been in my neck of the woods. I'm foaming at the mouth right now just thinking about all the glorious waves I'm going to get this afternoon as the tide drops!!! California is getting a decent swath of swell over the next couple of days, but they aren't the only ones. Central America is seeing some clean surf, and its looking up for the beginning of next week. The east coast could also see a good pulse of swell late next weekend into early next week... Hope everyone is as pumped as I am!

Decent start to December
Looks like clean fun swell for most of the regions. East Coast will see some swell cleaning up today, as California gets a little boost. Good news for the folks down in Central America!!! There's swell brewing in the Southern Ocean!!!! After a mess of internet issues this morning, and having to relocate to a coffee shop, I'm feeling quite a bit better about the surf situation than I was last week. Hopefully the north Pacific gets its act in gear soon, and produces some good clean long-period swells, the kind that have been absent most of this season so far.
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving, and have recovered successfully.
